With the 2026 Oscar nominations dropping today, it's time to look forward to what NEW movies are dropping in 2026. From weird A24 films to the big blockbusters, we highlighted what we're looking forward to in 2026.

The New Barbenheimer

Avengers : Doomsday, December 18, 2026

The Marvel marketing machine is in full effect with at least 4 trailers out already. I wouldn't say either of us are super excited about this one but we do love some box office drama! It's RDJ and his 70 million dollar paycheck vs Timmy Chalamet and his Best Actor Oscar (maybe). We can't wait to see the box office numbers from DunesDay! (still workshopping this) -Ryan

Dune: Part 3, December 18 2026

If you take the casts for both Dune and Avengers, there's potential for a hilarious amount of overlap. Florence Pugh will definitely be in both while Zendaya and Josh Brolin are definitely possibilities to reprise their MCU roles in Doomsday. Oscar Isaac is also a possibility (via Dune flashback) and his MCU Moon Knight character but he also may appear in neither while we're definitely getting Zendaya and Brolin in Dune. -Ryan

The Tentpoles

Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu, May 22, 2026

Baby Yoda on the big screen! Yeah, I know his name is Grogu. I'm looking forward to this more than I was Rise of Skywalker. Jon Favreau is directing and he co-wrote it with Dave Filoni so there's hope that this one will be good, or at least as good as we can expect from a Star Wars movie in 2026. I bailed during S3 so hopefully I didn't miss much. -Ryan

Toy Story 5, June 19, 2026

I have a friend that loves the Toy Story franchise so much that she refuses to believe that Toy Story 4 is canon. In fact, she refers to Bo Peep as a whore. I should totally get her to write a review for Toy Story 5. Why would she watch Toy Story 5 when she hated Toy Story 4? I don't know the answer to that but I'm certain she's going to watch it anyways. -Ryan

Spider-man: Brand New Day, July 31, 2026

Jon Watts is out after helming the first 3 Tom Holland Spider-man films and Destin Daniel Creston (Shang-Chi and The Legend of The 8 Rings) is in. Tom Holland is still in it but no one knows who Peter Parker is anymore. It's still one of those Sony/MCU collaboration films, which is basically just an MCU film but Sony gets a cut of the profits. There's going to be a reunion of The Bear cast members, with Liza Colon Zayas and Jon Bernthal (The Punisher) both slated to be in this film. -Ryan

Street Fighter, October 16, 2026

I could tell you that the Street Fighter movie makes me feel nostalgic for button mashing and couch rotting with friends. That’s true. But that’s not the main reason I’m looking forward to it. The main reason is that Vega is played by my favorite lonesome masked cowboy, singer-songwriter Orville Peck. Sure, it’s type-casting to have him play a beautiful, masked “Spanish Ninja” (whatever that means, Capcom). It’s also a sign that the Street Fighter movie is doing at least one thing right: giving fans exactly what they want. -Nicole

You Have My Attention

Wuthering Heights, February 13, 2026

Whatever your feelings on Emerald Fennell, you have to give her credit. She knows how to build buzz. From the weird, anachronistic costumes that look straight out of a Leg Avenue Halloween bag to a soundtrack of new music by Charli XCX, it’s impossible not to be curious. Will the big twist be that it’s all just a child’s dollhouse play? Will we see Jacob Elordi do unspeakable things to a bathtub? Only one way to find out. - Nicole

K-Pops!, February 27, 2026

This movie marks Anderson Paak's feature directorial debut, his feature acting debut, and his feature screenplay debut... that's a lot of debuts all at once. Not to mention his son, Seoul Rasheed, is also making his acting debut in this movie. In the film, Paak plays a down on his luck musician who moves to Korea to try to revive his career there, while also finding out that he has a child. There are absolutely a lot of red flags here, but I'm hoping for the best. At least the soundtrack should be great. -Ryan

The Breadwinner, March 13, 2025

Is Hollywood trying to make Nate Bargatze the next stand up comedian to actor thing? It sure seems that way and I have no idea if this movie is going to be any good. The pros: Eric Appel (Weird: The Al Yankovic Story) is directing, Kumail Nanjiani, Will Forte and Kate Berlant are part of the cast. The cons: the plot of the film is that Nate Wilcox (Bargatze) becomes a stay at home dad after his wife lands a deal on Shark Tank. -Ryan

The Drama, April 3, 2026

Unfortunately, I’m nosey. And the notion of Robert Pattinson and Zendaya as a happily engaged couple whose wedding week falls apart because of the titular and as-yet-undisclosed “Drama”? I’m rubbing my hands together wondering what in the fresh hell Tashi Duncan did this time. See you at the bottom of the Reddit speculation rabbit hole. - Nicole

I Love Boosters, May 22, 2026

Boots Riley is back! His follow up to the great 2018 film, Sorry to Bother You, drops in May. Like Sorry to Bother You, it has a sci-fi twist and LaKeith Stanfield! It has a loaded cast: Keke Palmer, Naomi Ackie, Taylour Page, Don Cheadle, Demi Moore, Will Poultier, Poppi Liu and more! Plot details are scarce but wikipedia says: A group of shoplifters take aim at a cutthroat fashion maven. -Ryan

Digger, October 2, 2026

A great needle drop gets me every time. The first trailer for Digger is basically just Tom Cruise dancing with a shovel to the sounds of Gorillaz’ “O Green World.” But it’s enough to get me pumped for a rare comedic performance from Cruise in Iñárritu’s first English-language film since The Revenant. -Nicole

Primetime, TBA

On paper, Primetime sounds like a Mad Lib. It’s an A24 film, inspired by the show To Catch a Predator, starring Robert Pattinson. It co-stars, I kid you not, Phoebe Bridgers. It’s directed by Lance Oppenheim, the guy behind HBO’s psychedelic, batshit crazy, not-quite-true documentary Ren Faire. This movie is a dream. It’s a nightmare. It’s a must-see. -Nicole
